“Football and Education“: An International Exchange- and Work-Forum

A network of organizations from South America, Europe and Africa is involved in the international exchange- and work-forum "Football and Education". The forum, providing the technical possibilities necessary, is used as a means of communication on three different levels (project organisation leaders, youth project coordinators / mentors): It lays the foundation for a long-term work relationship on common project contents, project documentation and publications in the sphere of "Football and Education".

The practical knowledge existing in the respective contexts is secured and made transferable onto other contexts. Thus, a new "global sphere of learning and education through Streetfootball" by all organisations involved is developed further.

jugendkompetenzen   Youth-Competence-Team Since May 2008, KICKFAIR has been co-working with its international partners to construct and establish a common youth-competence-team. Youth project-mentors work on common project-contents and visions, exchange their experience made in project work, and are able to extend their knowledge in this cooperation by adding a global perspective, which - in turn - influences the work in their own social environment. Current work contents of the youth-competence-team include: A documentary covering the time between 2004 and 2008, and also the planning of the upcoming Festival of 2009.

publikation   CDI | KICKFAIR Within the framework of the bigger, common network, the Centro para el Desarrollo de la Inteligencia (CDI) and KICKFAIR specifically work together on the preparation of scientifically substantiated contexts of justification for the educational approach of football. Based on different realities and cultures, this includes the composition of scientific texts, the publication of these texts, and the development of global educational contents about football.

Integration - CreArte | KICKFAIR Through football and art, the organisation CreArte from Bariloche (Patagonia) specifically creates meeting-platforms and -situations for handicapped and non-handicapped people, in which the respective handicaps take a backseat and in which non-handicapped people can learn something from handicapped people. In a joint process of systematization, CreArte and KICKFAIR intend to make the experience made so far transfer- and useable as a didactical and methodological approach of action. At KICKFAIR, this process is tied to the guiding of a cooperation school class consisting of "handicapped" and "non-handicapped" pupils.

kindergeschichten   ESPERANCE | KICKFAIR The „Association des Jeunes Sportifs de Kigali - Espérance" is using sport and especially the method of „Football pour la Paix" („Football for Peace") in terms of gender equalization, conflict work, information about AIDS and for the processes of Peace Building (against the background of the Rwandan Genocide). The German youths currently deal with the topic of genocide in Rwanda and the central contents of the work of Espérance. Together with their partners from Rwanda, they want to elaborate, in how far approaches of solution, which they have developed in their project-work in Germany (integration, dialogue between people of different cultures and ethnicities, etc.) can be used to deal with the situation in Rwanda as well (and vice versa). A first common product on which they currently work together, is a book with stories about football and peace.

forschung   International learning cooperation- Directors and Development of organizations The common projects are implemented in the every day work of each participating organization. The responsible leaders of each organization do create an appropriate framework to guarantee that. In that sense, an organizational development is beeing realized that has two dimensions: the dimension of the local structures and the dimension of the international learning cooperation as an organization itself.

murga   Murga - Defensores del Chaco | KICKFAIR In Argentina, the Murga is a form of social protest with dance, percussion and vocals. It originates in slave rituals performed in colonial times. Today, there is a strong link to football as well, in the shape of the rhythmic backing of the fan chants in the stadiums. In the common educational work of Defensores del Chaco and KICKFAIR, the Murga has developed into a second conjoining element of the learning partnership. Through the artistic access provided by the Murga, the youths on both sides deal with the respective other "foreign" culture, thereby reflect their own identity and create common artistic forms of expression.

bilderbuch   Children’s picture book Secondary School (Hauptschule) pupils, aged 11-12, had the idea to make a children's picture book compiling the tales and stories they had been told by the children from their partner-streetfootball-project Defensores del Chaco in Argentina. In the context of global learning, a lasting project emerged, in which children and youths from two parts of the world learn from each other, develop things together and do something for each other.
