Orientation towards the Millennium Development Goals
KICKFAIR especially focuses on young people, who are - in the context of societal participation – generally regarded as having little opportunities. In everyday life, social background, nationality, ethnicity or schooling often co-decide whether somebody is allowed “in” or stays “out”. Following the global notion of the Agenda 21, KICKFAIR wants to take international responsibility, enable the socially deprived to partake in social participation processes and wants to stand up for equality of educational opportunity regardless of gender, nationality and social background. In project-development and –realization KICKFAIR is oriented towards the Millennium Development Goals of the United Nations. Against this background, international learning-partnerships with projects pursuing a similar approach are developed, too.
Orientation towards the Community
Locally, in project-development, KICKFAIR is always oriented towards the community. The participation in the project is always linked with the assuming of responsibility in different tasks. These tasks are connected with community-oriented work and citizens’ commitment.
Holistic Learning and Education
The motto of KICKFAIR is “Strengthen Strengths” (“Stärken stärken”). According to that, it pursues a holistic approach towards learning and education. The main purpose is the discovery and development of strengths and talents. KICKFAIR wants to create spheres in which young people regardless of gender, nationality, social background, ethnicity or schooling; find tasks which challenge and support them. They should be given the opportunity to actively participate in the creation of their own sociological environment. The feeling of belonging and the aspect of learning together and from one another is important to KICKFAIR.
“The young person is at the centre of things”
The teenagers and young adults are involved in the project-development right from the start. In the context of social, intercultural and global learning, this means that the different social and national backgrounds are to be taken into consideration, that the cultural backgrounds have to be included and that the large variety of existing youth movements should be made use of.
“International Cooperation as Learning-partnership”
KICKFAIR’s learning partnerships connect civil activists in different countries. The partnerships are based on long-term learning on the basis of common projects. With active integration of the teenagers, common learning-contents and -projects are defined, which are put into practice by the respective activists in their own societal context (q.v. “Learning Partnerships”).
